Comstock of Irrational Games' Bioshock Infinite (2013).This blog was established in December of 2013, and I have written her on and off since. With what little we know of her, my portrayal is almost entirely based off of headcanon and vibes.Lady Comstock's first name is Amelia.   III  002.      I am highly critical of Ken Levine and the Bioshock series as a whole. I am not BAS compliant, and do not consider it canon.   III  003.      I am visually impaired. I have trouble reading copy-pasted special fonts, super small text, spaced out text, and a lot of all-caps. I may ask for a plain text version of your info, and please keep formatting to a minimum in replies!   III  004.      Given the nature of Infinite, this blog is extremely trigger heavy and deals with mature themes such as: Blasphemy, indoctrination, cults, abuse, misogyny, drowning, violence, gore, strangulation, murder, themes of American exceptionalism and pregnancy mentions.   OTHER:   Paralysis of the left vocal cord. After the attempt on her life in 1895, Amelia lost use of one of her vocal cords and never regained it; her voice cannot sustain loud volumes and is pitched low in her throat.
PTSD. This manifests in several different ways; namely flashbacks, insominia, intrusive memories, paranoia, and emotional numbness.

OUR LADY OF SORROWS. Lady A. Comstock is born Amelia Van Nostrand in New York, New York on April 30th, 1874. The eldest and only child of James Van Nostrand and his wife, Anna; Amelia is set to inherit both the family's steelworks, a large fortune, and her parent's place in Mrs. Astor's 400.From a young age, Amelia worked alongside her father in the family offices; managing budgets and balancing the books - often to the chagrin of her mother. While not perfect, Amelia was loved above all else - but her childhood was shattered in 1883; when her mother passed in childbirth alongside a son her father had longed for throughout the years.Her father, in his grief, grew distant; keeping Amelia at arm's length. Frustrated, she began to act out to get his attention to varying degrees of success. In an attempt to gain control of Amelia and settle her, James arranged a match for her in 1890 when she came out to society - it went well, until it did not. A few years older and more experienced than Amelia, he used and discarded her; leaving her heartbroken, isolated, and the subject of several rumours that threatened her reputation in polite society.Soon after this, Amelia's father passed unexpectedly; leaving Amelia the head of the family and majority shareholder of the steelworks. Alone in her grief and the subject of rumours, Amelia began several affairs with men of high society; pitting them against each other. In turn, she became a social pariah.By 1892, Amelia is vulnerable and in desperate need of a support system. Instead, she began to sit in on sermons offered by a street preacher - Father Comstock - drawn in by talk of redemption, and second chances. Knowing of Amelia's social influence and wealth, Zachary Hale Comstock drew her in deeper and deeper into his social circle. Their courtship is fast, and they marry in 1893.With funding secured and Amelia acting as a window into knickerbocker society, Zachary is able to secure funding for his grand vision: a flying city held aloft by the power of God and science. It launched in May of 1893 at the World's Fair; and was aptly named Columbia - meant to be a shining example of American exceptionalism.The marriage deteriorates quickly. Amelia is to bear the Messiah-Child who will ignite the world; but does not fall pregnant. Blaming her, the Prophet takes matters into his own hands and procures a child that is and is not theirs; claiming that Elizabeth, the infant, is cut from holy cloth.Amelia denies this - and orders the girl be placed out of her home until the truth comes out to her. Truth does come: Zachary is a monster; he was always a monster - the blood of innocents is on his hands; and she has helped to place him at the helm of something terrible she is feels powerless to stop.

Comstock is dead; she is also is alive. She finds this state disagreeable.

Set in alternate timelines where Amelia Comstock is Amelia DeWitt; navigating her marriage to Booker and motherhood.VII: IT ALL HAS TO END, TO NEVER START. The circle is broken. The timeline is reset; none of this will ever happen. But who is Amelia?VIII: WE WERE ALL BURIED AT SEA. Rapture.
